DFI COURSE - 9 SEPTEMBER 2020

The Manaiakalani pedagogy kaupapa we touched on today was Empowerment. Empowerment is about the advancing of Rangatiratanga taking back control of their own lives. In my opinion "Ko te whakamana tāngata te aronga nui" Empowering people is key.

We explored different platforms of coding which extended my current knowledge in this field. In the beginning I struggled to find a connection with the subjects I currently teach however after getting advice from my peers started using Scratch as a platform to assist my students with pronunciation of kupu Māori.

I look forward to using Scratch more in the classroom.

NORTHLAND DFI TERM 3 COHORT 2020

DFI COURSE - SEPTEMBER 2020

The pedagogy kaupapa we covered today was being Cybersmart. I learnt that Cybersmart is a form of empowering our whānau by being proactive online. There are 10 categories of Cybersmart which are: smart learners, smart footprint, smart relationships, smart media, smart surfing, smart legal, smart money, smart values, smart teachers and smart parents. The whakatauki I really likes was "kia tangata whenua ki te ao matihiko"

I have become more confident with operating chromebooks by learning the different keyboard shortcuts to help me provide an easier and quicker method of navigating myself around the device. I look forward to sharing these tips with my students.

Check out my screencastify recording covering the instructions for my year 10 Social Studies class.

  • Insert blog icon with link to my blog.
  • Insert Hapara icon with link to class workspace's.
